Venting....
Call it hormonal, call it having too much time on my hands (5 weeks off from work!), but today I engaged in a self-pity party regarding baby's late arrival! Again, I think it stems from this emphasis we make on the 'due date'. And in reality, first time mothers and many other women do not delivery on time. But it still doesn't stop me from feeling inadequate. I feel like something is wrong with me, like my body doesn't know how to delivery a baby the proper way! I know it's silly but I still feel that way.
I also feel frustrated because I feel like I've been such a good sport these past 10 months! (yes its been 10 months for me). I guess I felt like I would get some sort of 'pregnancy karma' or early pass for having such a good attitude. I walk twice a day for 20-30 minutes, eat good, and follow Dr's orders. Other friends and family I know that were pregnant recently bitched and moaned half the pregnancy and about possible being induced. Turns out, NONE of them delivered as late as me and none were induced! And I am both :( I know the end result is hopefully a healthy, happy baby boy. And that is truly all that matters in the end, I know that. Like I said, I have been good this whole time and I just felt like having a tantrum I guess!
ANYWAY, enough with the whining! One thing that has made me feel better lately though is knitting! I am in a knitting club with my friends and coworkers. We meet every other Friday and just work on projects, drink wine(well not me yet) and chit chat. My dad taught me to knit years ago, but I only knew one stitch and was curious to learn more. It has been so great to learn from others firsthand new stitches and ideas! I can't wait to make baby Mark stuff and blankets for my friend's babies! Here is a pic of a scarf I just finished, modeled by Miss Bella:

We'll be parents by the weekend!

Sooo I don't know why I had it in my head I would delivery early! I am now 41 weeks and no baby Mark yet! However, I have an induction scheduled for tomorrow afternoon so the wait will soon be over :) So I thought I'd reflect on my pregnancy before the big day:
How far along? 41 weeks today!
Total Weight Gain: 30 lbs, still don't know where it is hiding though
Maternity Clothes: I have 2 maxi dresses I literally live in that I bought at Target last year, they aren't maternity but they are the most comfortable things in the world. I honestly don't know how I would have survived this summer without them!
Stretch marks? None! I guess I'll take him being late to having stretch marks too!
Sleep? Great until about a week and a half ago. Now I wake up every 2 hours from contractions to nervousness to who the heck knows why! But I was really lucky the whole pregnancy so I can't complain
Best moment this week: My girlfriends came to visit me Monday and we hung out and laid by the pool. It helped me to get my mind off things and put me at ease.
Movement: His kicks and punches are so hard for me to feel lately! There is just no room so I just feel a push or roll here and there.
Food Cravings: I didn't really have any- just that my love for sweets was amped up!
Gender: Team BLUE!
Labor Signs: Hmm some of them I just won't mention here haha! As of last Friday I was 3-4 cm dilated and 70% effaced. According to my OB his head is super low and it will only take a few pushes for him to come out- I hope she is right! I am having a lot of cramping all day long, but like 10-15 min apart.
Belly Button-in or out? Ugh OUT- so not ok and hope it goes back to normal afterwords!
What I miss: Wine, raw sushi, my old clothes, being able to drive myself around outside of town
What I am looking forward to: meeting my son! starting a new chapter in my life.
Weekly Wisdom: I have to agree with my friend Delia's response that people get a little nutty on your due date and afterwards. People are so fixated on the due date, when only 5% of women actually go on their due date! And I can't tell you how many text messages I have gotten that say "no baby yet?!". I'm like, uh no. But really I do appreciate everyone's concern and I KNOW they are just checking in to see how I am doing! So I shouldn't be such a brat....

Baby Shower!

After having to change the date I finally had my friends and family baby shower! Thank God for my mom and brother Justin who helped me get everything ready the day before and clean up after! I was really touched by all their help and support. It was a fun day- except for the game measuring my waist size, and my cousin guessed 58 inches!! (It was 39.75 inches by the way) :)Thank you to everyone that showered baby Mark with gifts and love, it was a very special day for me thanks to my friends and family.Wednesday, June 9, 2010
Nursery- Check!
We got the nursery finished just in time for the baby shower! Boy let me tell you, picking out the perfect orange is no easy task! It took many trips to Home Depot and many more paint testers :) But I LOVE the finished product. Jesse did an amazing job with all the painting. When he is a little older we will turn the room into sports or Giants theme ( only if he wants to, of course!). The rug was from target along with the nursery bedding, the furniture is Carter's from Babies R Us, and the valance was from Kohl's. My parents gave us their glider which we are so thankful for! It is super comfy and will get lots of use. Here are some pics of baby Mark's nursery:

Home Sweet Home!
We moved into our house last weekend!! I still can't believe we are home owners. Now baby Mark will have his nursery ready for him I am so happy. We couldn't have moved without the help of Jesse's mom, brother in law, cousin and Beth! I am obviously of no help when it comes to lifting so I was so grateful Jesse had some help.
My sister in law Kim also had her shower over the weekend- Baby Makenna Faith is due 6/11 and we all can't wait :) Here is a pic of us with our growing bellies:

Baby shower invites
I made my invites and had them shipped this weekend :) zazzle.com lets you pick designs you like and customize them- it's the best website! The shower is being thrown by my mom at our new house. We have 3 weeks to get our house ready for a shower- needless to say we will have our hands full! The theme is going to be baby blue bird-more pics to follow :) Here is a copy of the invite and the postage stamps I had made:

Bump watch and house watch
What a busy last couple of weeks! Actually what a life changing year this has been but that is a whole other story! Here are two pictures I took last week of me at 23 weeks. I'm really feeling him kick around now, and Jesse got to feel him kick too!

We also got an offer accepted on a house! If things go well we will be moving in April 16th. We are very excited, and even more excited to have a home for our new addition. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the inspections and appraisal go well. Below is a picture of our hopefully new home :). I am most excited that it has a pool and adjoining spa- I can't wait to have everyone over in the summer and BBQ and be out by the pool!

Nursery Theme
So I've never been one to shy away from color, and the nursery is no exception! Try as I may to go for pastels and light blues, I am always drawn to more bright colors. I found this great bedding set from Target of all places!

I will use mostly the striped bumper and dust ruffle, the blanket might be a little too much print on it and besides who uses blankets? Infants are not supposed to have anything else in the crib unless they are tightly wrapped in swaddled blanket. I also like this rug to match the set:
So that will be the nursery for out little man. I think I might paint my own canvases to match the bedding too. Now if only we could find a house we love to buy and put the nursery in-HA! Good thing we have 2 bedrooms at our place now :)

Eating for Two?
So I've been trying to cook a lot more for Jesse and I (and baby Hutto). It helps me to plan out the meals for the week and I think it will make my life easier once baby gets here. For this next week on the menu is:
Monday: Mexican Tacos
Tuesday: Cornflake 'fried' Chicken with mashed potatoes
Wednesday: I work so Jesse will make soup and grilled cheese sandwich
Thursday: BBQ chicken pizza
Friday: Pea-sto pasta
Here are the recipes for 2 of the meals:
CORNFLAKE 'FRIED' CHICKEN
-7 cups Cornflakes-crush them or buy crushed (1 3/4 c. crushed)
- 1 egg
- 1 c. flour
- 3 lb chicken
-3 tbsp butter, melted
in medium bowl, beat egg and milk slightly. add flour, salt and pepper. Dip chicken in batter. Coat with cereal. Place in baking pan and drizzle with butter
Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees
PEA-STO PASTA
1/2 c. parmesan
1/4 c. toasted pine nuts
1/2 c. olive oil
grated lemon peel
box of pasta
frozen peas, thawed
1/2 c. pasta water
mix ingredients minus pasta and peas and run in food processor to make pesto. cook pasta, strain but save some water behind for meal. Mix pasta, pasta water, 'pesto' and thawed peas.

Jess and Jess- plus one :)
Welcome to our blog! We wanted to make a blog so we could stay in touch with our friends and family as we welcome our newest addition, baby boy Hutto-due 7-14-2010! So come along with us as we enter this life changing moment of this crazy ride called LIFE :)
I am 18 weeks along and baby is doing great! It has been a smooth pregnancy so far, other than the fact that I want to nap or sleep every spare moment I get :)
Two weeks ago we had an ultrasound to find out if we were on Team Blue or Pink. It was a very special day for us; my parents, grandma, Justin, and Jesse's family got to be there. Our sister Kim is expecting baby #2 in June, so she got to find out what she was having at the same time! Here are some pics of the day and our sweet little BOY:
